Adejumoke Aderounmu was a renowned Nigerian actress, recognized for her notable portrayals of characters such as Esther and Kelechi in the popular Nollywood TV series “Jenifa’s Diary” and “Industreet.”
Additionally, she gained acclaim for her role as Jummy Adams in the Nollywood film “Alakada 2” (2013), where she starred alongside industry veterans like Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Odunlade Adekola, Linda Ejiofor, Falz, Juliana Olayode, and Omotunde Adebowale David (Lolo).
Early life and Education
On the 26th March 1984, Adejumoke was born into a family of 5 at The Sacred Heart Hospital in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria .She attended St. Banerdettes Private Schools in Ibara Abeokuta and later Abeokuta Girls’ Grammar School Onikolobo before pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in international relations from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State. After completing her studies, she served one year of national service in Gombe state.
In 2017, Aderounmu obtained certification in Film Making and Acting from La CinéFabrique multimédia in Lyon, France, after winning a Ford Foundation scholarship at the Africa International Film Festival. Her professional acting career began after auditioning for Tunde Kelani’s movie “Arugba” in 2008, where she portrayed the role of Princess Mobandele alongside Bukky Wright, Bukola Awoyemi, and Segun Adefila.
Nollywood Adventures
In 2012, Aderounmu took on the role of producer for the first season of her TV show titled “The Lounge with Jumoke.” The show featured celebrity interviews and discussions on fashion trends, showcasing her versatility and expertise in the entertainment industry.
Throughout her career, she accumulated over 10 movie credits in both English and Yoruba films. Additionally, she ventured into on-air presenting, starting as a presenter for the Box Office TV show at Goldmyne Entertainment under Daniel Ademinokan in 2010/2011. She later transitioned to Concert Radio, an online radio station in Nigeria, where she worked from 2012 until 2015.
In 2016, Adejumoke Aderounmu gained significant recognition for her portrayal of Esther (also known as “small but mighty”) in the comedy TV series “Jenifa’s Diary.”

Death
Aderounmu died on the 8th of April, 2024.
Aderounmu’s passing was confirmed by her brother, Adeola Aderounmu, through an enigmatic Instagram post captioned, “You are in a better place now, my sister,” accompanied by Aderounmu’s obituary photo.
Additionally, a friend of the deceased’s cousin, Oluwabanke Funmi, shared on Twitter, “Rest in peace Aderounmu Adejumoke.”
“I waited hours for her cousin to retract the post and clarify it was a prank or a mistake, but…” she added.
A funeral service has since been held for Aderounmu Adejumoke at Owu Baptist Church, Totoro area of Abeokuta in Ogun State.
