Early life and Education
Ali Nuhu Mohammed was born in Maiduguri, Borno State, in northeastern Nigeria. His father, Nuhu Poloma, hailed from Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State, and his mother, Fatima Karderam Digema, from Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. He spent his childhood in Kano. He attended Dawakin Tofa Science College in Kano before earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from the University of Jos. Afterward, he completed his National Service in Ibadan, Oyo State. He furthered his education by pursuing courses in Filmmaking at the Asian Academy of Film and Television in Noida, Delhi, Transmedia Storytelling at the University of Southern California Department of Cinematic Arts, and Acting for the Camera at the Los Angeles Center Studios, Relativity Education.
Career
Nuhu embarked on his acting journey with the 1999 film “Abin sirri ne.” His breakthrough came with his role in “Sangaya,” which became one of the top-grossing Hausa films of its time. He continued to shine in sequels like “Azal,” “Jarumin Maza,” and “Stinda,” earning recognition such as the Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2007. Celebrating two decades in the entertainment realm in 2019, Nuhu boasts an impressive portfolio of around five hundred movies.
