Early life and Education
Etiko hails from Udi, a village in Enugu State, situated in the southeastern part of Nigeria. She completed her primary and secondary education in Enugu State and pursued her tertiary education in Anambra State.
Career
In an interview with Vanguard, Etiko shared that she entered the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) in 2011. Juggling her acting career with her studies was challenging as she was still a student at the time. Her breakthrough came with the movie “Idemili,” produced in 2012 by Ernest Obi, although it wasn’t released until 2014. Her performance in the film garnered her a nomination at the City People Entertainment Awards. Prior to “Idemili,” she had appeared in several other movies but hadn’t landed prominent roles.
Personal life
Despite the trend of relocating to Lagos state for success in the Nigerian movie industry, Etiko, born in Enugu state, has chosen to remain there throughout her acting career. In an interview, she spoke out about the prevalent issue of sexual harassment against women by male movie producers in Nigeria. In 2019, she gifted her mother an apartment, expressing gratitude for her support in her acting journey, despite her father’s initial opposition. Tragically, she lost her father in May 2020. Etiko also established the Destiny Etiko Foundation, aiming to enhance the living conditions of people in need.
