Drew McIntyre is a Scottish professional wrestler and actor.
He is currently under contract with WWE, appearing on the Raw brand.
Early life and Education
Andrew McLean Galloway IV was born in Ayr on June 6, 1985, and grew up in nearby Prestwick, attending Prestwick Academy. Initially aspiring to become a professional football player, he played in defensive positions for the youth club Prestwick Boys. At the age of 10, after reading the magazine X Factor, which featured conspiracy theories and ghost stories, Galloway wrote to the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act and received a file of documents in response. A lifelong fan of professional wrestling, he began training at 15 with his parents’ support, provided he equally prioritized his studies. Galloway upheld this agreement, eventually earning a master’s degree in criminology from Glasgow Caledonian University.
CareerGalloway kicked off his career in 2001 in the United Kingdom and later inked a development deal with WWE in 2007. Assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling, he portrayed the character The Chosen One and made waves on SmackDown in 2009, clinching the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the WWE Tag Team Championship. Transitioning to a lower card status in subsequent years, he became part of the stable 3MB before his release from WWE in 2014.
From 2014 to 2017, he resumed wrestling under his birth name, Drew Galloway, competing across various promotions globally, notably Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) in Scotland and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). In TNA, he secured the TNA World Heavyweight Championship and the Impact Grand Championship, and he also found success in Evolve, capturing titles such as the Evolve Championship and the Open the Freedom Gate Championship. His contributions led to his induction into ICW’s Hall of Fame in 2018.
Returning to WWE in 2017 under the ring name Drew McIntyre, he joined NXT and claimed the NXT Championship. Upon his comeback to WWE’s main roster in 2018, he partnered with Dolph Ziggler to win the Raw Tag Team Championship and went on to win the 2020 Men’s Royal Rumble match, two WWE Championships (with the first victory occurring in the main event of WrestleMania 36 Night 2), and the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XL Night 2. Notably, he stands as the first British and sole Scottish world champion in WWE history and holds the distinction of being the 31st Triple Crown champion.
Personal life
In July 2009, Galloway got engaged to American professional wrestler Taryn Terrell, also known as Tiffany, while they were both working for WWE. They tied the knot in Las Vegas in May 2010 but divorced in May 2011. Subsequently, in 2013, he met Dr. Kaitlyn Frohnapfel at a bar, and they exchanged vows on December 10, 2016. Currently, the couple resides in Nashville, Tennessee, after previously living in Tampa, Florida. Unfortunately, Galloway’s mother, Angela, passed away on November 3, 2012, at the age of 51 due to cerebellar ataxia. He is a devoted supporter of the Scottish football club Rangers. In a significant move, on June 2, 2023, Galloway announced that he had obtained American citizenship.
