Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, born on July 14, 1982, is a prominent Nigerian media figure renowned for his roles as the host of Big Brother Naija, the enduring Rubbin’ Minds talk show on Channels TV, and his co-hosting duties on Ebonylife television’s The Spot and Men’s Corner.

Early life and Education
Born in Benin City, Edo State, Chukwuebuka Obi-Uchendu hails from a family background where his father worked as a banker and his mother as a nurse. He is the third child among four siblings, with an elder sister, an older brother, and a younger brother. Growing up, he attended nursery and primary school in Benin City, where he notably passed the Common Entrance Examination into secondary school from Primary Four. Later, his family relocated to Abuja, where he completed his secondary education at Christ The King College in 1997. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Abuja, graduating in 2004, and then attended the Nigerian Law School in Bwari, Abuja, finishing in 2005. After a five-year gap, he returned to academia, obtaining his Master of Laws degree from the Washington College of Law of the American University in Washington D.C. in December 2010, with specializations in Intellectual Property and Communications law from the Law and Government program.
Career
Following his participation as one of the 14 housemates in the inaugural season of Big Brother Nigeria in 2006, where he finished in eighth place, Chukwuebuka Obi-Uchendu emerged as one of the most prominently successful contestants from the season. He later ventured into hosting, taking on the role of hosting the second and third seasons of Big Brother Naija in January 2017.
Post-Big Brother, he secured endorsement deals with a major telecommunications brand and a popular brewing company. This led him to host shows like Friend or Foe on NTA, the GLO Show also on NTA, and Guinness’ Greatness TV. Additionally, he contributed a weekly column titled “Contrast” for the Nigerian national daily newspaper, This Day.
In the lead-up to the 2011 Nigerian general elections, he facilitated the first-ever presidential debate focused on youth issues, broadcasted live across the nation.
Transitioning to television, Obi-Uchendu took over as the host of Rubbin’ Minds, a Nigerian television talk-show, in 2013. He also joined The Spot as one of the co-hosts alongside Lamide Akintobi and Zainab Balogun. Later, in July 2016, he assumed the role of the host of Men’s Corner, Nigeria’s first all-male TV talk show.
Recently, amidst preparations for the Big Brother Naija Season 5 reunion, there were calls from some fans for Ebuka Obi-Uchendu to step aside as the host. However, the majority of fans and celebrities rallied in defense of his performance thus far.
Personal life
On April 15, 2015, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu entered a new chapter in his personal life as he proposed to Cynthia Obianodo in Lagos. Their union was solemnized on February 6, 2016, in Abuja. The couple welcomed their first daughter on November 8, 2016, and in 2018, they excitedly shared the news of expecting another child through Instagram. Notably, Cynthia once mentioned that she encountered her spouse, Ebuka, on Twitter.
