Hadi Sirika, born on March 2, 1964, hails from Shargalle in the Dutsi Local Government area of Katsina state. He graduated from institutions such as the Petroleum Helicopters Institute, Flight Safety International, and Delta Aeronautics, all located in the United States of America.
Career
In 2003, Hadi was elected to the Federal House of Representatives, serving until 2007. He later secured reelection to represent Kastina North in the Nigerian Senate under the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 elections. During his tenure, he held significant roles including vice-chairman of the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) committee and membership in the senate committee on Aviation. In early 2015, he joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) and played a pivotal role in convincing Muhammadu Buhari to run for president under the APC banner. After Buhari’s victory in the 2015 elections, Hadi served as the Minister of State for Aviation until 2019, and he was reappointed to the position by President Buhari for his second term. As a former pilot, Sirika brings unique insights to the Senate Committee on Aviation, advocating against corruption in aircraft ownership. He has also been vocal about the need for credible leadership in Nigeria and the revival of the aviation sector.
