Born in Lagos State to Daniel Johnson, a former naval officer, and Elizabeth Johnson, she is the fourth child in a family of seven. Her primary education commenced in Calabar, Cross River State, in the south-south region of Nigeria. Following her father’s naval postings, she continued her schooling at the Nigerian Navy Primary School in Lagos State. Subsequently, she pursued her secondary education at Rivers State Secondary School and Nigerian Navy Secondary School in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Following her secondary education, Mercy Johnson Okojie ventured into acting, landing a role in “The Maid” and later appearing in other notable films like “Hustlers,” “Baby Oku in America,” and “War in the Palace.” Her talent was recognized with awards, including Best Supporting Actress at the 2009 African Movie Award for “Live to Remember” and Best Actress at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards for her role in “Dumebi the Dirty Girl.” Renowned for her popularity, she topped Google’s list of most searched Nigerian celebrities in 2011 and 2012. Additionally, she serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Kogi State on entertainment, arts, and culture since April 1, 2017.
