Michael Olise is a professional footballer known for his role as an attacking midfielder or right winger at Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Early life
Michael Akpovie Olise was born on the 12th of December 2001 in England.
During his early career, Olise spent time as a youth player at Arsenal, Chelsea (where he spent seven years before departing at age 14), and Manchester City. He joined Reading’s Academy scholarship program in July 2018.
Career
Olise signed a five-year deal with Crystal Palace on July 8, 2021, after his release clause of £8.37 million was activated. He made his Premier League debut for Crystal Palace on September 11, 2021, and scored his first Premier League goal for the club on October 3, 2021. Olise has achieved several milestones with Crystal Palace, including becoming the youngest player to assist three goals from open play in a single Premier League match and the first Palace player to register ten assists in a single Premier League season. Despite reports of a potential return to Chelsea, Olise signed a new four-year deal with Crystal Palace on August 17, 2023.
Olise holds eligibility to represent several countries internationally, including France, Algeria, England, or Nigeria. He was called up to the France U18 team for the 2019 Toulon Tournament and made his debut against Qatar U23. In March 2021, he was named as a standby for the Nigeria squad for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
