Paul Okoye (born November 18, 1981), popularly known as Rudeboy, is a Nigerian singer.
He gained prominence in the 2000s as one half of the P-Square duo, alongside his identical twin brother, Peter Okoye.
Early life and Education
Paul studied at St. Murumba Secondary School in Jos, alongside his brother Peter, who is also known as Mr. P. Paul joined a music and drama club at the school, where he and Peter began dancing and performing cover songs by artists such as MC Hammer, Bobby Brown, and Michael Jackson.
CareerAfter P-Square disbanded in 2017, both members pursued solo careers. Rudeboy released his debut solo tracks, “Fire Fire” and “Nkenji Keke,” in the same year. His song “Reason With Me” became the most-viewed YouTube video in Africa in 2019. He founded the record label Fire Department Inc in 2019 and released his debut studio album, Rudykillus, in 2021. The music video for “Reason With Me,” directed by Clarence Peters and released on April 15, 2019, has garnered over 189 million views on YouTube, making it Rudeboy’s most-watched video.
Personal life
On March 22, 2014, Paul Okoye married Anita Isama, whom he met in 2004 while studying at the University of Abuja. Their son, Andre, was born in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2013. The couple also have a set of twins, who were born in Atlanta. In August 2021, Anita filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.
