Early life and Education
Taylor Jackson Kinney was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Lancaster Mennonite School in 2000 and later studied Business Management at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Career
Taylor Kinney portrayed Luke Gianni in “Fashion House” (2006) on MyNetworkTV and Glenn Morrison in “Trauma” on NBC. He had a recurring role as Mason Lockwood in the supernatural drama “The Vampire Diaries,” joining the cast in the second season. In 2011, Kinney appeared in Lady Gaga’s music video for “You and I.”
In 2012, Kinney secured a starring role in the drama series “Chicago Fire,” where he plays Lieutenant Kelly Severide of Rescue Squad 3, alongside former “House” star Jesse Spencer. That same year, he appeared in Kathryn Bigelow’s acclaimed war drama “Zero Dark Thirty” and guest-starred on “Shameless” as Craig, the former high school crush of the main character, Fiona, played by Emmy Rossum.

Taylor Kinney began dating singer-songwriter Lady Gaga in July 2011 after meeting on the set of her “You and I” music video in Nebraska. They got engaged in February 2015 but called off their engagement in July 2016. In 2022, Kinney started dating model Ashley Cruger, and the couple married in a private ceremony in Chicago on April 30, 2024.
