Dennis Junior Odunwo (born 1 September 1993), better known by his stage name Tion Wayne, is a Nigerian-British rapper and DJ hailing from Edmonton, North London.
Early life and Education
Dennis Junior Odunwo was born in Edmonton, North London, to Nigerian immigrant parents. His mother worked as a nurse, while his father was a computer engineer. As the middle child, he initially aspired to become an accountant.
CareerOdunwo began gaining recognition in the music scene in 2010 by uploading several videos on YouTube. By 2014, he had released his debut mixtape, “Wayne’s World,” gradually cultivating a dedicated fan base. By 2016, he had opened for artists like American rapper Rick Ross and Ghanaian artist Sarkodie. That same year, he released his second mixtape, “Wayne’s World Vol. 2.” In 2017, Odunwo dropped the “Transition EP.”
In early 2019, he made his UK Singles Chart debut, featuring on NSG’s single “Options,” which peaked at number seven. He also released “Wayne’s World 3” in 2019. His single “Keisha & Becky,” a collaboration with British rapper Russ Millions, also reached the UK top 10, peaking at number seven.
In 2020, Odunwo was featured on the single “Houdini” by rapper and singer Swarmz, alongside KSI. The track peaked at number six on the UK Singles Chart. He subsequently released the single “I Dunno,” featuring Dutchavelli and Stormzy, which also reached the UK top 10, peaking at number seven.
In 2021, Tion Wayne and Russ Millions released “Body,” with a remix following on 22 April. The song reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, marking the first UK drill track to achieve this milestone.
In May 2023, Tion Wayne visited the residence of the late rapper Sidhu Moose Wala in Punjab, India. He paid his respects to Moose Wala’s parents and filmed a music video for the song “Healing.” The two had previously collaborated on the track “Celebrity Killer” in 2021.
Personal life
Tion Wayne has kept his relationship matters largely private. However, it appears he is currently single following his breakup with Lani Good. After their split, Lani used her YouTube platform to discuss the emotional abuse she experienced while dating Tion. In response, Tion called her allegations a travesty and absurd.
Controversies
On 4 March 2017, Odunwo was involved in a brawl outside a nightclub in Clifton, Bristol, where he had been performing as a DJ. The incident involved over 100 people. On 9 November, Odunwo and three other men were sentenced at Bristol Crown Court, resulting in Odunwo being jailed for 16 months.
On 17 November 2020, Odunwo was involved in an altercation with rapper Headie One on a flight from Dubai to London, with rapper Morrisson attempting to break up the fight shortly after boarding.
