John Saviours Udomboso, professionally known as Young Jonn, is a Nigerian artist, songwriter, and record producer, presently under Chocolate City Music.
Early life and Education
Jonn was born into a Christian family of Akwa Ibom descent in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. He attended Ideal Foundation Primary School, Ibadan, and GOF College, Osogbo, Osun State, for his basic education. During his time in high school in Osogbo, he developed interests in basketball, soccer, musical instruments, miming, and dance. He pursued Communication and Language Arts at the University of Ibadan.
Career
Jonn’s musical journey began in childhood, playing instruments and forming the group AVG with his brothers. He later signed with Hit Factory Studio in 2012, where he produced hits like Olamide’s “Story For The Gods” and “Bobo,” earning a nomination for “Producer of The Year” at The Headies 2015. His production credits extend to songs like “Gbese” and “Efejoku” by Lil Kesh, “Biggest Backside” by Davido, and albums such as “The Baddest” by Davido, “2 Kings” by Olamide and Phyno, and “Eyan Mayweather” by Olamide. In 2022, he joined Chocolate City, releasing “Dada” from his EP “Love Is Not Enough (Vol. 1)” on April 1st. Later that year, on October 21st, he dropped “Love is Not Enough” (Vol. 2), featuring tracks like “Dada Remix,” “Normally,” “Next to You,” “Xtra Cool,” and “If You Leave” alongside “Sokoto.”
Personal life
With notable production credits in the 2010s, Jonn was associated with the YBNL mafia family and ranked #3 in The NET’s “Nigeria’s Top 7 Biggest Music Producers.” He received nominations for “Producer of The Year” at both the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and The Headies 2015.
